“Houdini,” the lead single from Eminem’s forthcoming new album, The death of Slim shady (coup de grace).
Since Eminem announced The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) last month, Houdini is the first single to have surfaced after this announcement. In the corresponding music video, a portal from 2002 opens, allowing his former-self from his to step into the present. From there, he recreates his iconic “Without Me” video, as present-day Eminem sets out to find 2002 Eminem, with the two encountering everyone from Dr. Dre to Snoop Dogg, Shane Gillis, Paul Rosenberg, and more along the way.
In the end, the Eminems have a rooftop showdown and combine into a single “monster.” Playfully, he then goes on the attack against everyone from Dr. Dre to Rosenberg, even including his own kids. After all this, Pete Davidson takes over as the car’s driver, proudly announcing he “just got [his] license back.” They drive off into the night, causing chaos by crashing into other cars.

“Houdini” was announced this past week via a fun and strange Instagram clip depicting a FaceTime call between Eminem and magician David Blaine, in which the latter eats a wine glass and the former vows to “make [his] career disappear,” with his “last trick.”
This is Eminem’s 12th full-length release, and his latest since 2020’s Music to Be Murdered By. Earlier this month, to promote the album, Eminem ran a “fake obituary” in the Detroit Free Press for his alter ego, Slim Shady.
In the video, Eminem hits up Blaine on FaceTime. “Yo, listen, I need your help with something,” he said before showing the magician some love. “Well, first of all, I just want you to know you’re the greatest to ever do it. What I was wondering is, how far can we go with this magic? Can we do a stunt or something?”
Eminem proceeded to shock fans with his next line, which could be hinting at his retirement following The Death of Slim Shady. “Well for my last trick, I’m gonna make my career disappear,” he teased.
