Ayra Starr makes history as she surpasses Tyla to become an African artist with the most Spotify listeners.

On the 4th of June, 2024, Ayra starr topped Tyla to become the African artist with the most monthly listeners on Spotify in a landmark for the Nigerian superstar.

Ayra Starr has achieved a significant milestone, joining the ranks of Wizkid, CKay, Burna Boy, Tems, and Rema, who have all held the record for the African artist with the most Spotify monthly listeners.

In 2021, during the height of his global hit single “Love Nwantiti,” CKay set an African record with 30 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Ayra Starr’s latest accomplishment places her in this elite group of artists.

In 2023, during the worldwide success of his record-breaking song “Calm Down,” Rema reached 34 million monthly listeners on Spotify, becoming the African artist with the highest number of monthly listeners.

 

 

Spotify monthly listeners are largely influenced by the success of new releases, and Ayra Starr’s latest achievement can be attributed to the launch of her second album, The Year I Turned 21.
