Wizkid has been building anticipation for his sixth album, titled ‘Morayo,’ set for release later in 2024.
During an interactive session with fans on Twitter on June 24, 2024, Wizkid confirmed that the album would feature Nigerian artists.
Ayodeji Balogun popularly known as Wizkid lost his mom, Mrs Jane Dolapo Balogun, who died at around 1.30 am, Friday 2023.and has found it hard to recover from such a great loss.
She was known to be loved so much by him as he sang a song for her and had invited her on stage during the early days of his career singing to her and creating memories that linger.
“The pain is profound. It hurts deeply. The deepest pain I’ve ever felt in my life” wizkid described her death as the most hurtful moment of his lifr.
Wizkid celebrated her life, highlighting how much he missed her. In a recent post, He wrote, “Happy birthday, love of my life! I miss you every day. The first one without you here feels unreal. Nothing makes sense without you, Mama! Life is empty without you.
“Continue to watch over us! My heart is broken forever! love you love love you, Morayo mi. Your smile is a memory I will never forget. Your laugh! Your hugs and kisses. I miss you dearly!”
Wizkid also wrote, “Morayo!! Best album I ever made!! Now listen! It’s only up from here!”
In a recent interview, Wizkid talked about his upcoming music, describing it as “very personal” and expressing his desire for it to uplift spirits and spread positive vibes. He had previously teased his album “Morayo” a few months back, hinting that the lead single will be dropping soon.

When it comes to his new album, he honors his mother by naming it after her, ‘Morayo,’ which in Yoruba means ‘I see joy.’ He explained, “It’s crucial for people to understand my roots and where my creativity stems from. I’m proudly African, Nigerian to the core. Sharing my Yoruba culture is essential—to showcase who I am and celebrate my heritage. Just as I’m curious about others’ cultures and ways of life, I want the world to embrace mine.”
