Two years ago, we introduced Kassie Krut, a new musical project featuring Kasra Kurt and Eve Alpert from the late, innovative DIY band Palm. Today, the trio, which also includes Matt Anderegg of Mothers and Body Meat, has announced their signing to Fire Talk Records and released a bold new single.
Titled “Reckless,” this track serves as a thematic anthem for Kassie Krut. The song showcases Alpert energetically spelling out the band’s name, along with a playful nod to the classic “K-I-S-S-I-N-G” chant, all set against a driving and increasingly intense electronic soundscape. The infectious energy of “Reckless” is sure to resonate with fans of Water From Your Eyes.
The band described the creation of “Reckless” as an exercise in restraint. They challenged themselves to write a song using just one bass note, a single drum beat, and only a few simple chords. In addressing their own moments of self-doubt, they aimed to craft a tougher version of themselves—someone fast and fierce—while also playing with the misconception that Kassie is a solo artist rather than a band. Alpert noted that their unique project name is a bit unconventional, so they seized the opportunity to spell it out for listeners, reinforcing their identity. You can watch the music video for “Reckless,” directed by Guy Kozak and filmed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, below.
