In February, Madi Diaz released her sixth album, Weird Faith. Now, the Canadian singer-songwriter is excited to announce the deluxe edition of the album, which includes a new track titled “Worst Case Scenario.”
Diaz shared her thoughts on “Worst Case Scenario,” explaining, “Sometimes when I’m afraid, I test out a theory I’ve developed over the past few years: Life has never completely gone the way I imagined it would (for better or worse).” She described how she often finds herself daydreaming about various scenarios, playing them out in her mind like a checklist. “I think I can get ahead of it all by imagining the worst and considering how I’d survive it. Maybe then it won’t actually happen. This song was my prevention plan against what I imagined would be the worst possibilities playing out.”
Reflecting on the deluxe edition, Diaz emphasized the significance of the accompanying songs and demos: “These tracks are an ode to the era of Weird Faith. Some of these demos capture the magic of the moment they were written—moments that will never happen quite the same way again. I feel it’s important to honor those moments. There’s a rawness to the energy the second a song is finished and sung. It’s a feeling I strive to capture every time I perform, hoping that there is still something new, a lesson, or an unlocking.” She expressed her hope that these demos reveal what the songs unlocked for her and that they might also resonate with listeners.
The Weird Faith (Deluxe Edition) will feature a new version of “For Months Now,” featuring Lizzy McAlpine, as well as the previously released collaboration with Lennon Stella titled “One Less Question.” You can listen to “Worst Case Scenario” below.
