The talky and sardonic LA indie rock band Cheekface has just released a new single titled “Flies.” This track features the unmistakable baritone saxophone work of Jeff Rosenstock, adding a unique touch to the band’s signature sound. As always, Greg Katz delivers the clever and relatable lyrics that Cheekface fans have come to love. The song opens with the lines, “The market is flooded with people like me / In a passenger van, with a pine-scented tree / Who cannot do a kickflip and are not on TV / And who aren’t really vegan or cruelty free.”
True to form, “Flies” is both perky and quirky, embodying the band’s playful yet introspective style. The release comes with a music video directed by Ben Epstein and David Combs, which you can watch below.
