Meet Drago The Tymeless Dragon, an amazing artist whose work tells stories. In this interview, we talk about his journey as an artist, what inspires him and the meaning behind his art.
Cocomyrrh: Looking back at your first project, how do you feel your music has evolved since then?
Drago: Reflecting on my first project, “Drago Tales,” brings back a flood of memories. It was a wild time, with so much to express but limited resources due to the world shutting down because of COVID-19. Dropping a project in the middle of a pandemic was quite an adventure. Now, with my platforms, I’ve found new ways to be expressive and connect with more artists, which has truly elevated my style and approach to new works. If I had to sum up my feelings about my discography in one word, it would be growth.
Cocomyrrh: Your new project “The Great Escape”, what’s it all about? What emotions or message do you hope your listeners take from this project?
Does this project hold any Indepth meaning to you or is it just music?
Drago: Absolutely, great question. This track holds a special place in my heart. It’s all about embracing life’s joys, doing what you love, and connecting with like-minded souls. I created it in memory of my late brother, who passed away two years ago from a massive heart attack at just 33. He was the life of the party and loved celebrating with those dear to him. My music is like an encrypted message, crafted for my true listeners, filled with double entendres to spark the imagination. Most importantly this track is aimed to signal this message to the youth, I hope to inform them that they have a big brother in me.
Cocomyrrh: Having listened to your previous works like Dead president, just say and the likes, how would you describe the sound and theme of this single compared to your other previous works?
Drago: The beauty of music lies in its transformative power, constantly evolving with the moments, vibes, and relevance of the times. As an artist, I strive to reflect these changes in my work. My previous projects are deeply personal, capturing real-life experiences and the essence of those times. “The Great Escape” is another chapter in this journey, telling a story for today’s world.
Cocomyrrh: What is the ultimate goal for your career, and how does “The Great Escape” fit into that vision?
Drago: One of my biggest dreams is to reach the highest peaks of success, not for fame’s sake, but to be recognized as a mentor for the youth and my community. I want my music to be a beacon of hope, offering solace and escape from both long-term and short-term challenges. If my work can uplift others and make a positive impact, then I will have truly made it. My goal is to create mantra music that resonates deeply and helps transform the world, one listener at a time.
Cocomyrrh: Are there any artists or producers you’re looking forward to collaborating with in future?
Drago: My favorite hip hop artist is Lupe Fiasco, I would love to do a song or two with him. I’m also a huge fan of Jay Z, J.Cole,Tupac, Damian Marley, Nas, B.O.B, Big Sean, Kendrick, Eminem, Andre 3000. I think I would have a masterpiece of an album I if could get feature from any of those artists. As far as producers, I would love to do work from Ye, Timbaland, Pharrell, Metro Boomin, 40, No I.D, and The Alchemist to name a few. I would also give a huge shoutout to Yung Nab, his team is the go-to right now to give us these tunes I’m pushing out at the moment.
Cocomyrrh: We’ll love to hear you explore more sounds. Do we look out for an EP or Album anytime soon?
Drago: There is an EP coming soon! It’s called Drago Tales Book of Charades; it’s nearing its completion. I am rolling out more music in the meantime, I can’t wait to drop these next singles, I think you all will enjoy them.
Cocomyrrh: As you reflect on your work so far, is there a particular project or song that holds special significance for you? What makes it stand out?
Drago: Every piece of music I create holds profound significance for me. Each song is crafted with the intention of telling a compelling story that can stand alone, offering the listener an opportunity to fully absorb and connect with its artistry. I strive to provide a meaningful experience, allowing each track to resonate deeply and create a lasting bond with the audience.
