VOICES by Valiancy

Kyle Harris known by his stage name Valiancy is fast becoming an independent name in the music industry. The artist who hails from Lehi continues to make waves as an emerging artist and with his latest music release Voices, there’s no doubt what a talented artist he is. This release marks a powerful and emotional return after several years away from releasing new music. Deeply personal and carefully crafted, this song shows just how much Valiancy has grown as an artist.

If you’ve followed Valiancy’s journey from his 2017 EP, “Patience is a virtue” to his 2022 tracks like “Enough”, you would find that Voices is a different vibe and it’s bigger than any work he has put out in the past years.

One thing that blows my mind about this release is how Valiancy did it all. He did not just sing, he wrote, recorded, produced and even mixed the entire track himself. He headed over to the famous Venice International Studio to get that professional polish but the very heart of the song is all him. That level of control over every step of the process is rare, and it gives the track a clear, focused vision.

He used several Moog Synthesizers to create that unique, spooky sound and ended up creating this sonic forest vibe- dark, a bit foggy and immersive. It’s a step away from his usual pop style and a bold step into a heavier, more atmospheric indie rock sound.

Valiancy draws inspiration from artists like Peter Gabriel and James Blake. You can hear hints of Gabriel’s emotional depth and storytelling style, as well as Blake’s moody production and intimate vocal approach. However, “Voices” does not copy these influences. Instead, He somehow turns this inspiration and blends them into something personal and original.

The major theme of Voices highlights the inner demons that we all face, and we end up not talking about, but Valiancy isn’t afraid to go there. This track is a raw look at Negative self talk. That annoying, mean voice in your head that won’t shut up.

It openly deals with mental health struggles, depression, and even suicidal thoughts and tendencies. This is not an easy topic to approach, but Valiancy does so with honesty and care. The song explores what it feels like to battle the inner voice that says you are not enough, that things will not get better, or that you should give up. It captures the heaviness of those thoughts, but it also offers a sense of understanding. There is pain in the song, but there is also compassion.

The song moves back and forth. One minute it’s dark and brooding and the next, it’s calm and gentle. It feels like the music is telling you that it might be bad right now but you’re not alone in the dark times. Instead of glorifying sadness, “Voices” acknowledges it. The darker tones reflect the seriousness of depression, while the softer, more melodic sections suggest acceptance and the possibility of healing. It feels like a conversation within the mind—one side filled with doubt, the other quietly encouraging strength. This balance is what makes the song even powerful.

With up to 17 releases under his belt, Kyle Harris has proven he’s a master at his craft and if anything, Voices stands out because it is brave, intense and powerful. Kyle has given a voice to the silent struggles so many of us face every day. It’s very rare to find a song that manages to be both devastatingly honest about suicide and depression while still feeling like a protective embrace.

Voices reminds us that though the voices in our head can be loud, our own ability to create and speak back is even louder. Lean into the intensity of this song and be reminded that even in your darkest sonic forests, you’re never alone.
