There are so many artists who try to fit into a specific category, but this is not the case with Aleph, the talented musician from Cyprus who happens to be doing the exact opposite. Since the early 200s, he has been tearing up the rulebook and just doing music his own way. With his latest project Watch Me Die Inside, he has created a sound so unique he has to give it it’s own name: “Deathened Melodic Electro Pop Black Metal”. It’s a wild label, but after hearing the EP, it actually starts to make sense. The music constantly moves between beauty and heaviness, calm and chaos, creating a sound that feels unusual but surprisingly balanced.
The EP sounds like a lot because it actually is a lot. Aleph uses his formal music training and years of teaching himself to blend these styles into something totally unpredictable. He is currently on a roll, having released three EPs and two singles in just the last year. His latest work is a perfect illustration of how much he pushes boundaries and how limitless he is as an artist.
One of the absolute spotlight songs in this new project is Something is wrong and it perfectly highlights the lyrical prowess Aleph is known for. We’ve all probably had that gut feeling where we just know something isn’t right, but you just can’t place your finger on it. That’s exactly what the artist explores in this track.

The lyric is telling us about the quiet fracture lines and hushed deception. It’s almost like staring at a beautiful window and noticing a tiny crack all of a sudden that wasn’t there to begin with. Everything might look peaceful on the outside but there is a quiet alarm going off underneath. The lyric describes the problems we can’t fix. Aleph describes it as an unknown fault we cannot find. It’s like looking for a ghost you can sense breathing, but you just can’t see it.
There’s a line that caught my attention the most; “Subtle notes, discordant song/ In silent whispers: Something’s wrong“. As a listener, it feels like the artist is directly speaking about the music. There’s an uneasy quietness and at the end of the song, he doesn’t give an easy answer. The questions just vanish unaddressed and stays in the silence. It leaves you restless and that is exactly what a great song is supposed to do.
Something is wrong is not just another song released out of nowhere, it is poetic and it is honestly pretty haunting. The artist proves that you really don’t have to shout to be heard and sometimes, a whisper is much more powerful. If you have ever felt like the world was crackling just beneath your feet, something’s wrong is the song you need. It’s the perfect soundtrack for those moments when silence feels a little too heavy and you need something to make it lighter.
In the end, Something’s wrong is not just a song you listen to, it’s one that you feel. It captures that human experience of waiting for the other shoe to drop, wrapped in a sound that’s just as beautiful as it is unsettling. It doesn’t matter if you’re a die hard metal fan or someone who just resonates with dark, electronic soundscapes, this track reminds you that the most powerful stories are often the ones that are left unspoken.
