Ohio songwriter Knightheart is one artist who isn’t restricted by a single genre or expectation. He has built his musical personality around honesty, ambition and self-belief. While contemporary R & B provides an important foundation for his music, his creative influences stretch into Hip-Hop, rock, punk, jazz and soul.
His personal philosophy MVNIFVSTYOURDREAMS says a lot about the kind of artist he wants to be. The message is quite simple: keep going after what you believe in, even when life gives you enough reasons to quit.

The artist just got off his independent Midwest tour and is back with his latest track “Back N Forth”. Dropped as part of his ongoing #FridayKnightz music series, the song is a major standout from his bigger project, Heartstrings & Soulties. Recorded at his creative sanctuary Jungle Studios, the track takes a look at Love, bad habits and the hard lessons we learn when a relationship falls apart.
We have all been there: stuck in a loop with someone where you break up, makeup, fight and repeat. “Back n Forth” focuses on that messy middle ground where Love becomes exhausting yet walking away still feels impossible. It’s basically a cycle that happens when two people can’t seem to stay together but also can’t completely stay apart.
The heart of this track is the idea of emotional repetition. Unhealthy relationships are rarely as straightforward as simply deciding to walk away. There can be affection alongside frustration, memories alongside resentment, hope alongside disappointment. A person may understand that a relationship is damaging while still believing that things could eventually get better.
The title itself captures the instability at the center of the story. It highlights movement without meaningful progress. The emotional circumstances in this song are presented in a way that allows everyone listening relate with the experience. Anyone who has struggled to walk away from something they knew was unhealthy can understand the tension behind that cycle.
There’s an important distinction between missing someone and being meant to remain with them. “Back n Forth” sits inside that uncomfortable space. Sometimes, emotional attachment survives long after a relationship has stopped being healthy. Sometimes, the hardest lesson is understanding that loving someone does not automatically mean staying with them.
That is exactly where the song moves beyond the conventional heartbreak.

One interesting part of this is heartbreak is not treated merely as destruction. Knightheart uses emotional pain as a source of understanding. The song explores the lessons that can emerge from toxic relationships-the recognition of toxic patterns, the importance of emotional accountability and the difficult process of learning to choose yourself.
This uncomfortable truth is one that Knightheart explores and i think that honesty is one of the best things about this record.
Something i appreciate about this track is that heartbreak is not explored from one angle. The song asks you certain questions like;
What did you learn? What did the relationship reveal about you? What behavior did you keep accepting? Why did you keep going back?
These are not easy questions, but they are important ones.
Sometimes you only understand those lessons after you have been hurt. That is where “Back N Forth” becomes more than just a song about two people who could not make a relationship work. It becomes a song about maturing emotionally.
You can love someone and still need to leave.
You can miss someone and still know that going back is not the answer.
That is a difficult lesson, and the song sits right in the middle of it.
If you’ve ever found yourself stuck in a loop with the wrong person, this song will feel like a mirror. Kinghtheart keeps making great music and we can’t wait to listen to what he drops next.
