Catherine Elms- Bring in The Wild

Catherine Elms takes a step forward with her latest album Bring in the wild where she confesses, confronts and transforms. This album is a deep personal journey into the feelings we try to avoid. Across 12 powerful tracks, Elms explores emotions like anger, jealousy, desire, and sadness—not to fight them, but to understand and learn from them.

Catherine Elms is a dark alternative singer-songwriter from Wales. She plays piano by ear and mixes emotional, powerful music with a rock edge. Her sound has been compared to artists like Kate Bush, Nick Cave, and Fiona Apple. Her first album made a strong impact and showed how much of a unique and important voice she is in the alternative music scene.

Inspired by the ideas of psychologist Carl Jung, Elms uses her music to explore the hidden sides of herself. “It’s about making peace with the parts of myself I used to suppress,” she explains. “And learning to hear what they have to teach me.” This honesty gives the album its emotional weight and makes it feel more like a personal conversation than a performance.

Elms blends the theatrical style of Kate Bush, the dark edge of Nick Cave, and the emotional force of Fiona Apple into a sound that feels uniquely her own. Her voice shows vulnerability and strength, one moment it is soft and sharp in the next.

The album kicks off with Medusa, a mix of emotion and myth. A perfect introduction to the world Elms creates —dark, magical, and deeply human. It progresses with a raw and emotional track “Brutal Heart”, as Elms opens up about the pain of loving and being hurt. Each song feels like a chapter in a story, with changing moods and layers of sound.

Some of the tracks in the album feel spiritual, songs like “Witch Flame” and “Shadow Gospel” building slowlyusing pianos, strings, and deep vocals to create a sense of ritual or reflection. Others, like “Little Knives”, are quieter and more intimate, like letters written late at night.

Bring in the Wild is an emotional album filled with truth. The music feels like a safe space where difficult feelings are not just allowed but welcomed. The music is perfect, even with all the drama, it does not feel overdone. Every melody, every lyric, every pause feels intentional. You can tell this music came from a real place, and that makes it hit harder.

Elms has already been praised by BBC Radio Wales as “brilliant” and described by Plastic Magazine as “a must-watch artist” in the UK alternative scene. With Bring in the Wild, she proves that she’s not just making music—she’s creating a space for people to feel deeply, reflect, and maybe even heal.

The album was released on August 8th on all streaming platforms, and for those who want more, a 16-track special edition is available on Bandcamp. Catherine will celebrate the album with a live show at Porters in Cardiff on September 5th, which promises to be more than just a concert and it’s expected to be a powerful, emotional event.
