After spending a while away from the music scene, Czech alternative rock and metal band CREEPS found their way back with their latest single “Cry of The Banshee” which was released in October. This release sees the band exploring a more modern sound while holding on to the heavier rock identity that has always been part of their music.
Creeps got together in the 2000s when they released three albums: Destiny (2006), Forgotten Desire (2008) and Delete as Appropriate (2010), before they went on a long break. They returned with “Two Against the World” and now “Cry of the Banshee”.
Listening to the song, you get hooked by how Creeps play around with their sound without losing what makes them recognisable. When compared to their previous work, this release feels a lot more modern, particularly it’s guitar arrangement. The verses carry some lovely guitar textures, with delay and pitch-shifting effects giving the main melody a bright, almost otherworldly feel. The atmosphere draws you completely in and keeps you curious about where the song is heading.
The chorus is where things really open up. The shift from the soft, atmospheric verses into a heavier and more authentic chorus works beautifully. The guitars hit harder, the energy rises and the song takes on a bigger vibe. The musical break also gives the listener a moment to catch a breath before the intensity picks again. Every transition feels like it was meant to be.
Beyond music, Creeps are also gradually gaining attention outside their home country. Their precious single, “I Will Follow You” gathered a lot of support and coverage from platforms such as AKT Music, Rocker, SSROCK, Rockola Indie and many more. Their recognition in Latin America is encouraging, with independent music publications and curators introducing their sound to new listeners.
For a band that has been away for a while, Creeps are determined to make this comeback count. With three singles already released this year and more music on the way, they are steadily rebuilding their presence across Europe, the Americas and beyond.
“Cry of the Banshee” is a solid addition to their catalogue and we look forward to watching it do numbers. It has the heaviness, atmosphere and memorable melodies that any rock fan would appreciate, but there is also enough experimentation to make it stand out. Creeps are finding their feet again, and if this release is anything to go by, their return is one worth following.
