Masquerade Talks “Something Mine” and Her Musical Journey

Congratulations on your new release, “Something Mine”! Tell us about the key contributors to this project.

Masquerade: Thank you! The beauty of “Something Mine” is that it’s all me. I performed the vocals, drums, guitars, bass, and keys, and I also produced the track. It’s a true one-woman-band effort. Every element of the song was crafted by me, from the instrumentation to the final mix.

That’s amazing! What’s the story behind this release?

Masquerade: “Something Mine” is a reflection of a lot of the struggles I’ve faced in life. It’s about that gut-wrenching realization of needing more from life, but also embracing the pain of feeling lost or dissatisfied. Even in those moments of uncertainty, the song is about finding a sense of belonging in your own skin, accepting your flaws, and pushing forward. It’s a call to arms for anyone who’s felt trapped or disillusioned by their circumstances, reminding them that it’s okay to strive for something greater.

What makes “Something Mine” stand out? Why do you think it resonates with listeners?

Masquerade: The song is a rock-pop anthem with a melody that really grabs you. But more than that, it’s a powerful emotional anthem that taps into feelings of dissatisfaction. For anyone who’s ever felt like there’s more to life or like they’re stuck in an oppressive situation, this song is an anthem of empowerment. It’s raw, it’s emotional, and it’s bold in its call for change.

What was unique about the recording process for this track?

Masquerade: The whole process was really unique because it was all done by me, entirely self-recorded and self-produced. It’s not just a track that I performed on—it’s my vision brought to life from every angle. There was no outside influence or team, just me and my instruments. I had complete control over every sound and every decision, which made the experience incredibly fulfilling.

You mentioned that “Something Mine” is just the beginning. Can you tell us a bit more about the bigger picture?

Masquerade: Yes, “Something Mine” is actually the first piece of a much larger musical project. It’s the beginning of a four-album pop-rock opera that tells the story of escaping an old, oppressive life. It follows a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and transformation. Each album will explore different aspects of that journey, with “Something Mine” serving as the opening chapter. The whole project is really close to my heart—it’s personal, raw, and something I’ve been working toward for a long time.

That’s so exciting! Can you briefly describe the themes behind “Something Mine” and the other songs in the upcoming albums?

Masquerade: “Something Mine” is really about the fight for more—more meaning, more purpose, more freedom. It’s the turning point where you realize that staying stuck isn’t an option anymore. As for the upcoming albums, the story deepens with each one. The themes will continue to explore overcoming hardship, breaking free from toxic situations, and ultimately, embracing the power of being your authentic self. It’s a journey of personal liberation, and I’m really excited for people to experience it as a whole.
