Q: Congratulations on your new single, Can You Hear The Music?! It’s a deeply emotional track. Can you tell us about the process of creating it?
Thank you. I wrote the song about a year ago during a time when I was feeling pretty low. It came from a personal place—kind of like a reflection of my journey through those struggles. When I finally came out of that dark period, the song just flowed naturally. I recorded it in Malmö with Joakim Lindberg, who really understood the sound I was aiming for. He helped bring the track to life in such a meaningful way.

Q: Tell us what makes this release stand out and why it’s significant
It is stripped back and only acoustic guitar and bass guitar i prominent in this song. I tried to make it as true as possible to me.

Q: What was unique about the recording process?
We recorded everything live in the studio and made it in a stripped back environment.

Q: The track feels raw and intimate, almost like a live diary entry. What inspired you to take this minimalist approach?
It was important for me to preserve the raw emotion of the song. We kept the recording simple—just acoustic and bass guitars, recorded live. This stripped-back approach felt honest and allowed the song’s essence to shine through. I wanted listeners to connect with the vulnerability in the lyrics and the music without any distractions.

Q: You’ve mentioned being influenced by iconic musicians like Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell, and Bob Dylan. How did their work shape this song?
Their music has always resonated with me because of its authenticity and timeless quality. For this track, Nick Drake’s non-linear song structures were a big influence. I love how his music doesn’t always follow conventional formats but still feels so powerful. I tried to channel a bit of that freedom in this song.

Q: The lyrics and structure of Can You Hear The Music? are deeply introspective. What’s the story behind it?
The song reflects my personal journey—feeling lost in a kind of darkness and eventually finding hope again. It’s about those moments of clarity when things finally make sense, even if just for a little while. Writing it felt like coming out on the other side of something heavy and being able to breathe again.

Q: Working with Joakim Lindberg seems to have been a significant part of this project. What was that collaboration like?
Joakim is amazing. He has this ability to really listen and understand what an artist is trying to express. He helped me refine the sound and create a recording that felt true to the song. His minimalist production style aligned perfectly with the mood I wanted to capture—haunting, yet hopeful.

Q: The track feels timeless yet rooted in personal experience. What do you hope listeners take away from it?
I hope it resonates with anyone who’s gone through something tough and come out stronger. The song is a reminder that there’s light at the end of the tunnel, even if it’s hard to see sometimes. I also want listeners to appreciate the beauty in simplicity—that sometimes, less really is more.

Q: As an emerging artist from Lund, Sweden, what does this release mean to you personally and professionally?
It feels like a milestone for me. This song represents where I’ve been and where I’m heading. It’s also my way of connecting with people—sharing my story in the hope that it might mean something to them, too.

Q: Lastly, what’s next for Jack Elliot? Can fans expect more music soon?
Absolutely! This is just the beginning. I’m already working on more music, exploring new ideas, and continuing to grow as a songwriter. I can’t wait to share what’s coming next.
